Heating Element and Resistance Alloys

Heating Element and Resistance Alloys
Heating element and resistance alloys play a central role in numerous technical applications where electrical energy must be specifically converted into heat or where electrical currents must be controlled and limited. These specialized metallic materials are characterized by a defined electrical resistance, high temperature resistance, and good oxidation resistance, making them particularly suitable for use in electric heating systems, measuring resistors, control technology, and other industrial applications.
While heating element alloys—such as constantan, chromium-nickel or iron-chromium-aluminum alloys—are primarily used in electric heating devices, household appliances, and industrial furnaces, while resistance alloys are frequently used in electronic components such as precision resistors or temperature sensors. Their composition and structure are specifically designed to ensure specific properties, such as a stable resistance curve under temperature changes or a long service life under thermal stress.
